Dear Friends,
As you receive this, our Mexico Mission team is applying stucco to a house they built and preparing to dedicate this new home to the glory of God. As our mission team continues their work and we as a church are collecting food for the Hunger Challenge that we launched on Easter Sunday, we are living resurrection. We are embodying resurrection in our very lives so that others may know life. Peter Gomes, the late Harvard chaplain, challenges us with this during the Easter season, “Jesus claimed his new life, now you go claim yours.”
Easter Sunday was a glorious celebration at SSCC and I give deep thanks to all who made it possible. I want to give a very special thank you to all of our musicians, Sanctuary Choir, and Worship Band. This is a very busy season for them and I am grateful for their stirring, thoughtful, and moving music all throughout the season leading into Easter Sunday.
This Sunday, we welcome one of our own, Rev. Kevin Mooney, to the SSCC pulpit. I know you will be challenged and enlightened by Kevin’s message. Kevin serves as a chaplain and has recently been accepted into the U.S Naval Reserve as a chaplain. While at the General Board meeting in Kansas City this Sunday, I will have the opportunity to worship at Country Club Christian Church, where one of our former pastors Rev. Dr. Glen Miles is the Senior Minister. I am looking forward to worshiping with Glen and will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Finally, mark your calendars for Sunday, April 19th which is Mexico Celebration Sunday. We will have a combined service at 10 AM that day as we hear from our Mexico Mission team. This is often one of the most moving worship services we have all year.
Have a rest of the week!
Grace and peace,
Danny
